Hypnobirthing in Worksop.
Birth preparation for parents in Worksop and across Bassetlaw, taught by Donna McHugh, accredited hypnobirthing teacher, registered nurse and mum of two. One-to-one in your own home, or the whole course online.
Worksop sits east of my base in Chesterfield, under 45 minutes away, and it is an area I travel to for one-to-one courses. If you are in Worksop, Retford or anywhere across north Nottinghamshire, I can come to you.
In-person one-to-one sessions happen in your own home. If the timing is awkward or you would simply rather not host, the identical four-week course runs online. The teaching, the audio tracks and the workbook are all exactly the same.
I also teach hypnobirthing in Sheffield, Mansfield and Nottingham.
Two ways to do the course.
In your own home
I travel to you in Worksop and across north Nottinghamshire. Four sessions, around 2.5 hours each, arranged around your week.
Fully online
The same four-week course over video, with the same workbook, audio tracks and messaging support right up to your birth. Popular if your weeks are unpredictable.
My son's birth was not what I had imagined AT ALL. My plan was a spontaneous labour and pool birth, and instead I had an induction and a Caesarean birth, because of being diagnosed with pre-eclampsia.
Hi, I'm Donna. Founder of The Birth Shed.
I became a mum to my son in 2022. Hypnobirthing is the reason I am not traumatised by my son's birth experience. I am evidence that hypnobirthing can work for ANY birth.
A new passion was sparked inside of me the moment I learned about how much of a difference hypnobirthing makes. I wanted to teach it to others, so I can spread the word. I want to prevent traumatic and negative birth experiences. Women deserve better. You deserve better.

Is hypnobirthing for me?
When in pregnancy should I take the course?
Most people take the course between 20 and 34 weeks. That gives time to practise the techniques and feel confident before labour starts. Earlier is encouraged if you want a longer practice window, which can arguably be most effective. Later is absolutely fine though if you've only just decided. It would never be a waste to do Hypnobirthing, even if you are close to your due date! Get in touch and I will find a way to make it work.
What if birth doesn't go to plan?
This is exactly what hypnobirthing prepares you for. The techniques work whether your birth follows your plan or takes a different path. My first birth was an induction and Caesarean for pre-eclampsia, none of which was the plan. Hypnobirthing helped me to stay informed, in control of decisions, and calm even when everything changed. That's the real skill the course gives you.
What if I'm already excited about birth but still have some fears?
That's completely normal. Many parents feel excited about meeting their baby and positive about birth, while still having questions, worries, or moments of doubt. The two can absolutely exist side by side. Hypnobirthing isn't just for people who are fearful of birth. It's for anyone who wants to feel more knowledgeable, prepared, and confident as they approach it. The course will help you build on the confidence you already have, while giving you practical tools to navigate any fears or uncertainties that arise along the way.
From parents who have been through it.
“I attended Donna's Baby Massage Course with my little one and I couldn't recommend it enough! Having 3 kids under the age of 4, it was lovely to have somewhere relaxing and peaceful to take my youngest to have some quality bonding time. Donna is absolutely lovely and always took time and genuine interest to get to know me and my little one.”
Amy White, baby massage course
“It was a great chance to bond with my little girl and take some time to reflect on my motherhood journey so far. Meeting other mums and chatting you really feel supported and things you are going through you realise you are not alone. Would highly recommend this class, Donna makes you feel really welcome.”
